The love and joy that our pets provide is priceless. The pain and sadness we feel when our pet dies is overwhelming. A child's tears and loneliness at the loss of our companion and a family's heartache sit heavily on our hearts. Whether our pet was our sole companion or a member of our family, we grieve deeply over their loss. Funeral services for our pets give us a sense of peace and help keep our beloved friend forever in our hearts.
I have been providing care at the time of euthanasia and burial since 1989. Thoughtful and heartfelt services at these sad times may include poems, prayers and eulogies. Family members are encouraged and invited to participate. Services can include religious, spiritual or non-sectarian prayers according to your wishes.
THINGS WE CAN LEARN FROM A DOG
- When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
- Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
- When it's in your interest, practice obedience.
- Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
- Take naps and stretch before rising.
- Run, romp and play daily.
- Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you've had enough.
- Be loyal.
- Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
- If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
- When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
- Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
- Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
- On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
- When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
- Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
- No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout .. run back and make friends.
